Aberdare’s Welsh Hills Bakery is one of the best in Wales
Hirwaun-based Welsh Hills Bakery, the company behind Lovemore Free From Foods, has been recognised as one of the top food manufacturers in the country at the Food Awards Wales 2016 after being shortlisted for ‘Ambient Food Manufacturer/Supplier of the Year’.
The awards aim to recognise the hard work and efforts of the Welsh food industry. Alongside the food manufacturer award, which was eventually won by the Dangerous Food Company, the ceremony saw accolades including best restaurants, takeaways, gastro pubs, hotel restaurants, cafes and bistros.
The black tie ceremony took place at the Mercure Holland House Hotel, Cardiff on April 18 and was hosted by Capital 1’s breakfast presenter, Polly James.
Key Account Manager for Welsh Hills Bakery, Julian Cruttenden, said: “Our site is one of the UK’s leading world class dedicated gluten, dairy and wheat free production facilities and we export across the globe.
“We are always proud to be recognised for our contribution to the food industry, particularly the free from sector, and even more so here in Wales.
“We would like to thank the Food Awards Wales for selecting us as a finalist and extend our congratulations to the overall winners.”
Irfan Younis of event organisers Creative Oceanic commented: “The tremendous amount of nominations received from the Welsh public, is a testament to the hard work of all those working within the food sector.
“Last year’s winners were great ambassadors and I am confident this year’s finalists and winners will follow in their footsteps.”
Welsh Hills Bakery, which this year celebrates its 60th year, developed its popular range of Lovemore free from products in 2008 after becoming the first company to supply two of the largest supermarkets with own brand gluten free products for seven years previously. The prominent bakery leads the way in the UK gluten-free cakes and desserts market representing an impressive 12% of the market.
The complete Lovemore range includes shortbreads, cookies, pies, tarts and slices which, with dedicated new product development and onsite testing facilities, are produced to taste exactly like the ‘real thing’.
